After five weeks of "monsoon" rains, August 15th arrived at Patty Jewett Golf Course with a sunny beautiful day for our golf outing.... Patty is the oldest golf course west of the Mississippi. It now sports three separate sets of nine-hole courses of outstanding golf.
Our golfers arrived early and eager to play. Some were there in "spirit" only, some by cell phone, and some just rode around in carts as moral support.
After a few smiling pictures, some warm ups, and receiving their Wasson tees and balls, the teams were off to tackle the greens. Have fun!....after all it's just a game.
The weather cooperated with sun and 80 degree temperatures.....and.....no rain! Even the resident geese (hundreds of them) managed to waddle out of our golfers' way with just a little encouragement. And, the resident coyote didn't show up until late afternoon.

Four hours later; after full inspection of various water hazards, sand traps and various slices and hooks, trips to bushes and other vegetation, the teams arrived back to the clubhouse none the worse for the wear.
Ron Blackburn won a prize for best sportsman. He played a good round despite having to play without his twin brother, Bill, who had a medical emergency earlier that morning.
Tony Leverett won a prize for spending the most time at the beach (in various sand traps) and being honest enough to tell on himself.
Lynn Keener won a prize for traveling the farthest to get here and ..... on the course itself.
Jack Anshutz won a prize for his expertise in water hazards.
Here are pictures of all our participants .... or not!! Now, you pick the winners.
