Table Rock Dam

With no WiFi and a desire to flee the neon and traffic of Branson, we headed south (I thought we were going north) and first encountered the Table Rock Fish Hatchery and later the dam. It’s quite a massive bunch of concrete back of which is created a massive lake!

This is the dam and to the left downstream on the White River a bit, the fish hatchery.

The backside of the dam and the beginning of Lake Taneycomo. On this side is located a great visitor’s center showing a nice little film outlining the making of the dam and the recreational facilities it produces as well as hydroelectric power.

Not much going on this day…still a bit rainy and cloudy. However, the rangers tipped us off to other treasures down the road for another day: a sternwheeler and all sorts of possibilities at a place called the Top of the Rock.

We did ultimately find the massive marina (OK, this is just a shot of some recreational boats). Trust me, there are hundreds of very nice (expensive) boats under cover all around this small spit of land.
